I have never been so excited about a game release before. Its hard to pin down what exactly No Mans Sky will be other than a first person universe simulator. So big no one will see it all but through the power of math the universe will be proceduraly generated for us all to explore.
I love the graphic style and whats been shown to date gives me lil tingles. Set for release Jun 21 this year and hopefully wont get delayed.
heres a video of game designer Sean Murray talking some specifics.

I am trying to meter my feelings for this one... If they can deliver what they are saying it's going to be amazing. ;)

Couple of facts...
-There will be a total of 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 unique explorable planets.
-It would take 10 years to discover every planet if every person on earth discovered 500 planets per minute.
-No mans sky features procedurally-generated solar systems, planets, fauna, creature voices, music and spaceships.
-No mans sky generates most of its content using math functions as apposed to storage space or internet.
-The game is so large the development team built virtual probes to explore the cosmos and search for bugs.

Do you feel the lack of multiplayer a mistake?

I feel if they made it multiplayer, MMO like, you could you know, run into other people also exploring the universe. Get/give tips on what planets to look for. Solar storms, high traffic area's etc. It would essentially be the carebear version of EVE with planets but it would be awesome for someone who dreams of exploring space. I've had that dream since I was very little but even this I feel won't be enough.

I'm so excited for this one. I can just see myself smoking up and spending hours upon hours pretending I'm Luke Skywalker visiting all these uncharted planets in my cool spaceship. Bring it on!

I really wish it was a full blown multi-player game.

With the fact that it's an entire galaxy it could be friggen amazing.

Will be fun indeed, but i just scared it just might be more of a visual novel then a game. Watching stuff change color gets kinda boring fast.

If they give it a story thicker then a blanket and something to shoot, im all up in there.

So far, thats not what ive been seeing :/

But as i said, it will be fun, not just time consuming.

I'm really hoping there is a story, but it's not a thrown in your face story... Something super low key that you have to actually pay a attention to notice

Isnt the story get to the center of the universe. The developer says something happens. Also theress tonnes of NPC's and some languages to learn.
I dont care as long as i can do some explorings.

Hmmm... This is interesting... I loved the grasslands. Dinosaurs and winter landscapes looked pretty darn shitty though.

I hope that the mere size of this isn't the main gimmick. I hope there is more to it than shear space... Tons of games have huge maps these days, it doesn't really add much to the game if the story+mechanics+atmoshpere aren't epic.

UPDATE: Huge maps with low NPC count feels really lonely to play.

I dont know much baout the game even after watching the trailer, except that ITS FREAKIN HUGE!!! I really hope there is more to it than just exploring. I just dont know what to expect. action RPG? Stats of any kind? leveling up of any kind? Weapon proficiencies? a "build your home base with resources" type of game? I dont know. But it looks interesting and worth a shot.

From what I can tell it's exploration at the heart of the game. Throw in space combat and trading etc. I get the feeling they don't want you to build a base because they want you to explore. If you got tied to a base it would limit what you would do.

That makes sense, I just hope there's a bigger point to the exploration other than just exploring. That seems like something I can burn out on fairly easily. Even if the planets are vastly different, just going diff places to see different things isn't enough depth for this dude.

Idk I get the feeling that the different factions might play a pretty large role in keeping it entertaining. But I honestly hope there is some sort of mysteries to solve.
