The Reincarnation Research of Dr. Ian Stevenson

Ian Stevenson (1918-2007) was a psychiatrist who worked for the University of Virginia School of Medicine for 50 years. He was Chair of the Department of Psychiatry from 1957 to 1967, the Carlson Professor of Psychiatry from 1967 to 2001, and a Research Professor of Psychiatry from 2002 until his death. He was also the founder and Director of the University of Virginia's Division of Perceptual Studies investigating parapsychological phenomena such as (1) reincarnation, (2) near-death experiences, (3) out-of-body experiences, (4) after-death communications, (5) deathbed visions, (6) altered states of consciousness and psi.

He became internationally recognized for his research into reincarnation by discovering evidence suggesting that memories and physical injuries can be transferred from one lifetime to another. He traveled extensively over a period of 40 years, investigating 3,000 cases of children around the world who recalled having past lives. His meticulous research presented evidence that such children had unusual abilities, illnesses, phobias and philias which could not be explained by the environment or heredity.

Honest we don't have to go far to see examples of past life bleed over.

When I was 4 or 5 the family thought I was a violin prodigy because I picked one up in a music store tuned it and played it. It was easier than writing the alphabet.

Now here is where it gets weird/odd. My 'gift' was encouraged, private lessons, a decent instrument and so on. I played for 2 hrs everyday and I never got a bit better. I started out playing like someone who studied and knew. I was pretty good. Good enough for a scholarship to Chapel Hill after high school but my technique NEVER advanced.

I think I already did that and had to do new things. While I love and make music still, the violin became boring and by the time I was 21 I stopped playing.

that's wild.

i used to not really subscribe to the idea of reincarnation until i started learning more about these kids. some of the cases are just impossible to deny. it opened up so many doors of thought now that i believe we will eventually discover the tools that will help us truly prove that this does happen...that sometimes, for reasons we do not yet comprehend, some of us come back.

energy is neither created nor destroyed...
