The ISM's - Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, Etc...

Postby NaranjaRa » Tue Nov 01, 2016 9:46 pm

Much, much smarter people than me have been tossing over this for ages, but now I put the question here: which system of governing a people is best?

since none of the established systems seems to be working out, I've been along the lines of basically wanting there to be a combination of sorts - pulling the best from each, dismissing the worst - and somehow coming up with a new hybrid. making sure everyone gets what they need, yet allowing folks to also take responsibility for improving their own situations. the idea of global markets without allowing corporate profits to run unchecked and grow to the point of rule (as they do in the US). having government services without them having too much say over our lives (eminent domain is a huge example).

more to say as i think of it, but let's get the ball rolling and //discuss

There simply isn't one. Not when it comes to nation states anyway. What usually happens is the biggest bullies come along and take over the whole system so you never end up with what you set out to get anyway.

yeah i tend to agree; it seems that in the end, eventually, human greed ends up taking over in one form or another. but i do want to be optimistic in the way that eventually we will figure it out. or at the least, keep moving forward with the Good Parts and let the backwards ideals die out. change like this always tends to be incremental unless there's Revolution.

and we've had decades to figure out how to keep a population distracted and comfortable enough to not get to that point...yet...

I still don't know how I identify politically. I suppose I'm more liberal and democratic generally, but I'm never happy with how these candidates execute such policies. its just weird to me that I like the General gists of democrats, but I seem to like the things republicans say more than democratic candidates.

I've never really followed politics cause it tends to bring out the worst in people and change lifelong relationships. FUCK THAT!!! This is why I usually just avoid it altogether. I don't know how to label myself politically anymore.
