I suppose it's political insofar that it speaks to a debate on policies targeted at trans people.

Not to piss on anyone's parade, but I really hate that meme... I can't remember the exact figures, but something like 95% or more of the people that did the ALS ice bucket challenge actually went ahead and donated regardless, most for the full amount or more. The challenge itself raised well north of $100 million dollars for ALS research. Not to mention awareness.

Clean water wasted? Western clean water charities raised tens of millions in 2014. Charity Water alone raised $27.9M for clean water initiatives in 2014, providing for over 1 million people in need.

Sometimes meme are just misinformed, twaddle, but it changes people's perceptions about something even if it's 100% false information. Internet fuckery really pisses me off. I usually don't care, but I actually nearly came to blows with someone that was trying to preach that meme as truth and called me out for supporting it at the time.

Sorry Anna, lol I feel like I just kicked a puppy, but that meme just makes me mad. :D

OK so this may not quite be a meme, but it is certainly meme-able:

This was posted in response to people claiming that the Second Amendment doesn't apply to modern firearms or other weaponry.

Put this on my FB; English nationalism is a reason I sometimes have a hard time with Doctor Who, especially with those Christmas episodes (ever since they had Matt Smith say "activate tannin molecules" I've been mildly grumpy): Image

hey man, i'm all with you on misinformed memes. but is it misinformation, or more opinion? because everyone that i know personally who did the challenge donated shit, so i'm not sure where the 95% is coming from or how it could possibly even be measured.

just because there are charities donating and helping to provide clean water doesn't make it any less ridiculous to be wasting it in such a way.

i personally hated the whole thing and believed a better "stunt" could have been adopted to raise money and awareness for ALS.

no puppies were harmed in the discussion in this thread ;)

Not quite a meme--more like a meme-able thing--but I'm dying of laughter.
