So i'm on Win7Pro and have not been harassed by Microsoft to up grade to Win10 but my family and friends on 8.1 have been. Apparently the popups are quite persistent and people keep asking me (ya know cause I'm a fucking super expert pirate master lol) if they should upgrade. I have read mixed reviews and so I come to the real tech ninjas for advice and guidance.

What say you?

Well, loosely what ive heard, is that STAY AWAY FROM IT!.. But its not too bad. But we will need it soon. They are implementing it in everything nowadays. Recently, ps4 needs win 10 to connect according to imgur scientists.

I think it smells fishy, but could just be me.

I aint no techie, so i could be wrong here. BUt more words in the thread :3

I've had no problems with it whatsoever and find it runs like a dream. It's very customisable and you can turn off all the features such as mail-fetch and news updates. I upgraded from Windows 7 and I see no reason to go back.

I've had zero issues since upgrading to Windows 10... I mean, you know, you only hear about the bad stuff on the internet. Rarely do people take to the internet forums to say that they had no problems. ;)

I would stick with Windows 7 Pro as long as you possibly can. That's what I have, and in my opinion it is the last great Microsoft OS. Windows 8 they made more focused on tablet systems, and Windows 10 is going that direction as well. I recommend sticking to Windows 7 because it is the last operating system they designed SPECIFICALLY for desktop usage.

I have no plans to upgrade from 7. I was asking for some folks with 8.1 who want my "expert" advice. lol I agree though. I actually miss XP. :(

I decided to say screw it and upgrade.

I'm pretty sure they intentionally inserted a massive memory leak into Windows 7 once windows 10 launched.

I tried everything short of a reinstall of Windows and could fix the issue. I would restart and have full access to my 16gigs of ram. 24 hours later the system was eating up about 3 extra gigs and so on until my comp would freeze.

That and Windows 10 is just fucking smooth. I thought my boot time was fast on 7 hell no takes me less than 30 seconds to boot now.

Overall I like it even if it takes some getting used to
