Read it all and I can't help with the farm life as I'm a beach rat but as far as intellectual discussions I'm sure you'll find a plenty. Welcome home!

wow, first off.. welcome. quite the intro. here our aim, at this stage, is to build up the community, innovate, collaborate, create, share ideas, knowledge, culture. we are only limited by lack. if a vibe of altruism brought you here, its probably for good reason. engage in the above, and you might just fall into the circles in which you seek...

Welcome to the boards!
I would like some of that basil please! For me and my partner it's our dream to live in a (farm) house with a big piece of land an be selfsustainable. I'm a self tought gardener/ foodforest wannabe. We are currently planning to experiment with some aquaphonics.
Anyway, enough about me :p I have no idea of how to help you out in getting your degree and experience working on the farm. For now I just say welcome here, I'll see you around :)

Welcome home iowaboy... Ninja is a state of mind, state of being. As for your quandary, if nothing else you will get moral support here, if that is worth anything to you... No-till farming is interesting. The old school farmboy in me, and the OCD, wants me to till my fields before planting, but I can definitely see the logic in no-till. Just this year on my little garden we had issues with compacting that support the logic behind no-till. As for how you can bring your skills to bear on a self-sustainable farm? There must be applications you can convert for use on the farm... or hell, learn. In fact, never stop learning.

Anyhow, welcome to the farm of ideas... ;)

Please please please post as much as you want and can in terms of what y'all are doing with that nonprofit (I'm looking to getting our little one in a dance class, so the substance of the nonprofit interests me) and how that farm life is going. With your STEM background, I'd love to see your user name pop up in Tech as well. You seem like such an interesting person, and I'll follow your posts to death if you make them :D

Love farms.. want a farm.. this is not a closed community although understandably it can get a little .. "WTF is this place.". You make it what you want and if yer genuine you will find what you are looking for.

definitely love your intro, your honesty, and intellect. i know if you dig in like the others are saying you will find your sweet spot. ninja kind of does that. it opens doors, show you new paths, brings you out of your shell....if you let it. this community is so very embracing, you will surely see. we are really building something here. you too can help make ninja what you wish it to be with the rest of us...and have a helluva good time in the process.

really looking forward to seeing you around more! /anna

Hiowa Sorry it took me a day - fighting with my internet services. I am loving the whole sustainable farm concept and of course the local arts nonprofit.
