NaranjaRa's Geeky Collections

Postby NaranjaRa » Sat Mar 26, 2016 1:33 pm

I'm a long-time geeky chick; i grew up with parents who raised me on sci-fi and horror. Dad collected movie memorabilia and Tales from the Crypt & Weird Science comics. Mom still collects vintage toys.

So it makes complete sense that I get my first autograph at age 8 (George Takei, "Mr. Sulu" from Star Trek, the original series) which started my own life-long love of collecting, dealing, trading, and selling movie and tv memorabilia, comics, and toys.

I might have some old He-Man stuff kicking around. I'm on my way home for Easter... I'll check. ;)

just started getting some of the 90's Aliens figures. they consist of NOTHING but hard sharp pointy things. look on the card - Ages 4 and up. FOUR!!!! O_O

I used to have a bunch of Star Wars and Star Trek stuff.. but I have moved around so much. My collectables have been either lost or sold. I have personally given up trying to collect anything, just due to the simple fact that I may end up without it.

I still have a Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual, copyright 1975, wonderful condition. The last piece left my dad got it for me in the 1990s.

You do have a nice collection of stuff and it looks wonderful :) I am envious of being able to keep stuff, must longer than I have been able to.

sometimes i despise all this stuff...honestly would love a "lighter" existence.
BUT, tis also my livelihood so there is a reason for it. i have a store. and am the sole reason why every house we get needs an extra bedroom...lol.

currently hunting for MOTU, Thundercats, and Blackstar.

anyone remember Blackstar figures at all? i think i had most of them as a kid. probably because they looked like He-Man figures but were cheaper so my mom bought them instead lol. yea i played with Barbies too, but they were mostly the fodder in my "Monster Wars".... :D

I wish I had held onto some of the stuff from mine and my brother's childhood - I remember having a LOT of He-Man and She-Ra figures, even Skeletor and Battlecat...sigh :)

All I have left is a 'Jester' action figure and a 12" replica of 'Blade' from the campy old Puppet Master movies.

OK couldn't find a thing, but I'll need to go back into it when I have more time and it's not freezing cold... I know we had a bunch of my brothers old toys still but I don't remember where they are. My old toys are long gone unfortunately. That would be a gold mine. I sold all my G.I. Joe stuff years ago and made a ton off it, but the rest I had saved but it's gotten lost, stolen or given away over the years since it was left in my mothers care...

thank you for being another female who had He-Man/She-Ra stuff!!!! <3

and yeah...i wish i had all my toys from my childhood. i wouldn't be selling other stuff to re-buy them right now!

the old man's parents were smart. when she found out we had gotten this incredible garage-sale lot of vintage Star Wars stuff, his mom sent us 2 boxes full of the stuff she kept from his childhood. dude, he had playsets and ships with their BOXES, even. that's right, we have some vintage Star Wars still in the original boxes, in great condition.

honestly, Star Wars is one collectible that will never depreciate. it's like currency. when we're broke, we sell a few doubles and get a little cash in 10mins. no joke. O_o
