How did the voter turnout compare to previous presidential elections?
According to 2013 census info there were an estimated 242, 470, 820 adults living in the US.
Over half the adult population didn't vote?

so nutz.
this election is going to be studied for a long, long time.
i for one learned that polls and the day-to-day predictions leading up to an election have become completely useless failure piles.

"Political experts..."
I never cared what they were all babbling about in the first place.
"Drumpf's gonna win because...."
"No, Hillary's gonna win because..."
Well how the fuck would you know, unless you've rigged the election yourselves?

I'm glad the election is over. I wasn't for or against either of them.
Something an acquaintance said recently made me laugh:
"Along the vein of that whole 'lesser of two evils mindset,' I see Hillary as what many have referred to as a 'two-step snake,' named so because supposedly if you get bitten by this snake you die after taking just two steps. I see Drumpf as more of, something like a copperhead; sure, you might lose an arm or something, but chances are, you're gonna live through it!"

Re: Presidential Election Results: Donald J. Drumpf Wins
It's interesting looking at the number of people who voted for each candidate, especially when you compare it to previous elections.
2004
Kerry - 59,028,444
Bush - 62,040,610
2008
Obama - 69,498,516
McCain - 59,948,323
2012
Obama - 65,915,795
Romney - 60,933,504
2016
Clinton - 59,923,027
Drumpf - 59,692,974
Look at that! There are 6 million people who voted for Obama in the last election who simply couldn't be bothered going out an voting for HIllary. And who can blame them? She is a very uninspiring politician who obviously has very little in the way of political, ideological or personal integrity. The votes were there. She just didn't do enough to make people care enough to go down the street and put pen to paper.
I would say it's sad, but the real tragedy is how Bernie Sanders was fucked over by the DNC and Clinton because they wanted to go with their favoured candidate and somebody who would keep the donors happy. Well, congratulation guys. You just gave the White House to the guy from The Apprentice and the WWE Hall of Fame.

oh i completely blame them. boohoo we didnt get our guy so we're gonna protest vote or better yet not come out at all....waaaaaaahhh
fuck that. fuck the people whose selfish bullshit contributed to this mess. they really went for the "Bust" part of the Bernie or Bust logic. because who cares about everything and everyone else? who cares everything Obama did - that they likely voted for - was in danger of being wiped into non-existence.
yeah they really stuck it to the man. hope they're feeling proud.

Agreed, Sanders should have been given a chance. My stance is completely neutral but I'd be curious to see how that would have turned out.

she should have put him on the ticket at the least
honestly, what i would've loved to have seen is a Biden vs Drumpf campaign. one of Hillary's biggest problems was how distanced she was from everyday working Americans. but Biden knows how to talk to those people. he would have had no problem calling Drumpf out on his shit, calling him out as a grifter (well he already did that), and likely would have been excellent at SCARING THE BEJEEZUS out of people who were thinking Drumpf had their best interests in mind. think about those two in a debate. oh man, one day i will find that alternate reality and bring some popcorn...

I know how you feel. However, I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation. Perhaps I would have just bitten the bullet and voted for Clinton but in the last UK elections I voted for the Left Unity Party which is an anti-austerity, anti-capitalist, socialist party. I firmly believe that you should use your vote in a POSITIVE manner. If we get tricked into this situation where you end up voting against what you don't want, then the things you do actually want will never be available for you to vote for. That's my belief anyway. When I was a teenager, my Dad saw that I was getting pissed with a lot of stuff like popular culture and politics and he told me to define myself by the things which I like and support rather than the things I was against. I think that is just brilliant advice and I try to stick to it today.
