My FAVORITE TED talk ever.

Postby Phara » Mon Mar 28, 2016 7:55 am

Seriously, I never have a favorite anything. But this one is the most beautiful explanations of the way I'm approaching evolution.

Damn I need to sub this one in French...
Truly inspiring.

This is actually one of the issues that came up in the mobilization these days. Since it is a social movement, revolting against authority, the one thing I keep hearing all the time is "we don't want leaders, we must not have leaders". People are afraid of leaders now, because they represent the authority (starting with teachers - true story -, politicians, and big bankers/bosses, etc).

Except in my view, you need leaders. It does not mean those leaders should have any kind of power (political or institutional power, I mean). But you do need people who can speak publicly, fire up a crowd and inspire people in general. Otherwise, it just falls flat...

That was absolutely beautiful. Very concisely put. It reminds me of my first boss, who owned a UPS Store in my home town. Kindest man you've ever met, always willing to help however he can, always willing to be flexible and supportive, and fiercely protective of his people. He was ex-Air Force and you could see it in the way he never stopped working. If there was work to be done, he was on top of it. However, he never was too busy to not put things down for a moment to chat.

He finally retired and I left the company, but he still only lives a few towns over. Maybe we'll have a BBQ one of these days.

Boom!
The power is yours if you just stand up! Stand UP! STAND UP! And walk... Take a step. Step with me. I will show you. Let me go first. Take my hand. Stay behind me. Watch me. I will go first... Step. Now you step. Step with me. Step when I step. I will lead the way. Stay close. I will protect you. You now have my back. We are a system. We are FORCE. WE ARE POWER!
~Said the Pied Piper
