I read a lot of academic writing and there are days where I just want to sit back and read something that well is easy to read and has a good story.
There is the Jake Grafton Series by S. Coonts (Amazon has great prices on ebooks and paperbacks a cent a pop!)
Here is an order in which to read them .. https://stephencoonts.wordpress.com/f-a-q/

All my Puny little sorrows
two sisters living in two different Canadian cities and their unique relationship they have with each other. It's sad, funny & touches on topics of loss, compassion and love. Miriam Towes is the author and she is a fantastic Canadian writer. Check her stuff out.

The Complete Cosmicomics by Italo Calvino. I'm on the second chapter only but what got me specifically interested in Calvino was no Invisible Cities but rather his Distance of the Moon.
There's this little video about 9 minutes long on YouTube and it's animated the cutest thing but it brings about a melancholia within.
Give Distance of the Moon a shot though for after reading it I am convinced that in spite of the love not being reciprocated there are some very heart filled people out there who would still cherish you no matter where you are or how badly you hurt them.

Re: Recommendations of books to read
From the last books, which I've read I like 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Also I like Stephen King, classic English literature: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Great Gatsby, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens...
From motivational books I can mention two my favourite authors - Jen Sincero and Barbara Sher, as well as books by Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich..)
