Drop Your Phone and Read This as Intentioned on a Desktop

"My Droid, My Love"

Baby doll, what's it like to date my phone?
Siri tells me we're not alone.
I've been through the Windows phase.
I've had the Apple crammed in my eye.
And through all of these updates,
our vapid, rapid, and tepid responses.
You seem to glow in my screen,
as you reflect off my glasses.
I wonder what meme will break us up?
I wonder where the SIM card inserts,
in your heart, as it rumbles to your ringtone.
I start up a brand new phone, curved and larger.
I remark on the glow of the old two-tone,
green and black monitor, I've seen your back,
and the way it bends to videos
that I have not yet seen in my stream.
Your camera, it's poised above our dinner.
You must send it to the ones
you wish were here. As soon as they are,
we'll pull up our phones and send them away.
What a loving couple we've become,
automated birthday card wishes, I have you nude,
touch screen tickles, flickering porn stars
like a devoid night sky clouded by free women.
Who's ringing, we all check, hoping for our exes,
anybody to break this reality's horrible monotony.
Another table's woman leans over,
"I like that phone, how's your service?"
I respond without looking up at the passing moment,
"It was better when it sat tangled into the wall."
Peace to all.

Wow. I am not one who agrees with the whole 'phones are ruining society' thing but I've definitely experienced this and it rings very true for some phases of my relationship.

I look forward to seeing your piece. I tried to keep my own personal disdain from this poem, but I think it still drips of sarcasm. I wanted there to be a deeper metaphor within its stacatto style. AliceElite, I'm glad you were able to find some personal recollection with this poem. I look forward to writing many more for you guys.
Peace to all.
