"Pockets Full of Stones, In an Ever Deepening Lake"

In baskets, woven wombs of gourds.
An open wound of swords.
Embryonic conception of platonic inception.
The barely brewed, stale baked grains.
The service badge worn by a cowardly lion.
His mane is full of fuel and fire.
His eyes set in flint and stone.
emberonic pupils, dilated in smoldering cinders.

The cougar stalks its cage.
Silent footfall of cocked up rage.
Whiskers playing like lockpicks across the bars.
Her heart is boiled down to an essence.
Spayed like pheromones across state lines.
My only defense, a pedal to metal offense.
Creedence Clearwater blows by my face.
Harder than the aching fan behind the firewall.
I'm kept cool by, "You better run through the jungle."

I put piles of her smile in the now defunct infant seat.
She faces the rear of the car for safety.
I drive, a headlong run in an endless sprint.
Her one sad transgression acts as an airbag.
It's blown up and out, when I lose it all.
Cushioned I am by my cries of infidelity.

We watch 'The starving, mad, hysterical.'
The geriatrical, tantrum, arthritic explosion.
Hobbled over, wasters of youth,
whining of nostalgia's implosion.
With a brilliant future, ever encroaching, getting stuffed,
in yesterday's pocket, a lint ball of laters.
We washed our hands with placental predictions,

naming our children after unfulfilled dreams.
